Personal Assistance Services Program
Disability does not have to mean the total loss of your independence and functionality. This program is designed to promote independence and assisted managed care in the comfort of your home, for individuals of all ages with permanent, chronic disabilities. A Personal Attendant can simplify your life by helping you with the following tasks:
- Bathing
- Feeding
- Toileting
- Cleaning
- Escort
- Dressing
- Shaving/Oral care
- Routine Hair care
- Transfer in/out of bed/chair
- Laundry
- Shopping
- Exercise
- Walking
- Assist with medication
If you have Medicare and your doctor decides you need home health care, you may choose any Medicare-certified agency that services your area. Home health agencies are certified to make sure they meet State and Federal health and safety requirements. Your choice of home health agency should be honored by your doctor, hospital discharge planner, or other referring agency. You have a say in which agency you use.
If you have a permanent or chronic disability and meet a certain income threshold, you may be eligible for the services of a personal attendant.

Who Can Be A Personal Attendant?
A personal attendant does not require any special license or certification.He or she must be legally eligible for employment in the state of Texas. You can decide whom you want to help you or we can provide one for you. Your attendant could be your child, a family member, a neighbor or a friend. You may not have your spouse or parent as your attendant by law.
